As the host of three expert workshops (sponsored by the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), with financial support from Wildlife Habitat Canada), the Canadian Wetlands Roundtable is pursuing practical solutions for Canada’s key wetland conservation issues.
Since its launch in 2015, the Roundtable model has proven the value of multi-stakeholder collaboration. To date, we have dedicated significant effort to understanding wetland conservation issues and building consensus around solutions.
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada is seeking input as part of its Wave 3 Engagement initiative to protect fish and fish habitat. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to modernizing and developing policies, frameworks, instruments, and guidance to further implement fish and fish habitat protection provisions of Canada’s Fisheries Act.
Focus areas include: Offsetting and Habitat Banking, Framework for Aquatic Species at Risk Conservation and New Interim Standards and Codes of Practice.
